Christian, Soty, and Makayla – Disneyland, Anaheim, CA

I guess since theirs a disneyland theme going on, you know Kobe goes to Disneyland, I go to Disneyland, Soty goes to Disneyland, the world goes to Disneyland, i decided to work on an old session I did at Disneyland. Soty asked me to send her some of the pictures from this session so i went ahead and reeditted some of them to my liking. Some of these pictures were actually OK (the ones i’m posting of course) and some of them were just horrid and it made me wonder why i ever thought i could be a photographer! Well if theres anything, time can either make you feel like crap, or make you feel accomplished and while i’m not on the, “yess my work is the best it can be” level, it is far better than what i had thought i could do before. I’m glad I can see some sort of progress. Anyway here’s the photos from Soty, Christian, and Makaylas session at Disneyland, Downtown Disney, and the Grand Californian. Please enjoy!

SYDT Sampaguita Youth Dance Troupe – Long Beach, CA

Next week is Sampaguita Youth Dance Troupe’s semi annual concert (i think, i feel like they have one during the holiday season also), in which my old time mentor Mr. Martin Danao, or whom i call Coach still, asked me to do the cover shots for their program this year. I came by on Father’s day after a long day of family family family and work, to the end of the SYDT practice. I got to see old friends and all the kids i met from the debuts i’ve done this year. It was nice seeing some familiar faces that i dont get to see often since moving away from Long Beach last year. Coach’s vision was to shoot a dancer in costume from each suite and put them all together for the coverimage. We have have one of mountain, muslim, spanish, rural, and i believe regional, (the name changes many times). The photos came out great especially for what we had, we were on location and behind the scenes i brought two strobes and made use of a white wall, no backdrops, just 2 strobes pointing in 2 different directions. The SYDT concert is June 26, 2010 at Long Beach City College where they will showcase the various dances of the Pilipino culture. Raised funds will go to an orphanage in the Phillippines and St Lucy’s Church in Long Beach. Lizzie and Albert Engaged – Long Beach State University

So Lizzie and Albert’s wedding is on October 15 and we did our engagement shoot at Disneyland at first, which was posted a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately due to time restrictions and faulty weather we were not able to get all the shots we wanted. Ofcourse not satisfied with my own work I rescheduled their shoot to this last weekend where I had the privilege of working side by side with the very talented Scott Yoshimoto of MOVeMEDIA productions.

Scott is a undergraduate student in the film program at the University of California, Irvine and is an old friend from college. I met him a couple years back when one of my fraternity brothers invited him to shoot an event my fraternity and I hosted called Raise the Roof (great event by the way that raised money to help families in poverty). Scott has always worked as a videographer for weddings and debuts but has also been getting out there in the community with his very entertaining youtube videos and vlogs. Make sure you check out his work!

Ok now that my multiple plugs are done :) Scott, Gaby, who was my lighting assistant again, and I took Lizzie and Albert around my old campus for some intense photo sesshing. As usual, all of our personalities were thrown in a pot and mixed and simmered quickly. It was like we were back in Disneyland with them again! I think you can see it in the pictures but it was really fun just talking, playing jokes, and teasing each other. I’m really excited to see Scotts footage since i’m sure you’ll be able to see the energy. We had a lot of fun and i’m glad Scott joined in as an added element. <– yea i did! =] Thanks guys and see you tomorrow! (the karate kid) ;]
