My feet my be dead by this point, but when the party starts, it never really matters. I rarely see photographers get in the mix of it these days, so when I go into training and hiring new team, I’m always trying to find people that are down to get in and mix it up. It’s rare that I actually put the camera down for long periods of time at the reception, usually by the time the itinerary is over, my feet are killing me, my back aches a bit, and I know that I’ve shot at least 1 shot of every single person in the room. All while, getting those awesome wide first dance shots and that killer bouquet toss. Can’t miss a shot here, our lives depend on it. Please enjoy!

I think this is how you test a photographer. Set him in front of some 20 something people who are, sweating hot or freezing cold, excited to get to the party, partially inebriated, and have no idea what you’re thinking – and see if the photographer can rally them together and bring out natural emotions. Other than just finding good light, great compositions, or fun poses, a good photographer has to rally the bridal party together and get them on his or her side. This is when heroes are made.
