Sailor Moon Series | Wicked Lady

I wasn’t planning on creating a look for wicked lady but one of my friends, Dominique, suggested I come up with a look for here and well, here it is!  Wicked Lady is the adult baddie version of Rini during the Sailor Moon R series.  For my first look for Rini, I focused on a really soft and simple pink look but this time I wanted to do something a little bit edgier and smokey.  I love love love the lashes I used in this look but they were a total pain to put on…but oh well.  Here’s the look :)

And yes! My hair matches the look :) Thank you again for another amazing hair job, Salon 25! <3

Bdellium Tools Review

For the past month I’ve had the opportunity to play around with a few Bdellium Tools brushes.  Bdellium (pronounced dellium, the b is silent!) is a local company that really focuses on making quality cosmetic brushes.  They have several brush lines that are eco-friendly and antibacterial as well.  The antibacterial aspect of these brushes are what really caught my eye because as a makeup artist, I am constantly working with a large number of clients and I want to make sure that I am very hygienic when it comes to my work.  Since these brushes are anti-bacterial, it is advised to clean these brushes with a non-alcoholic based cleaner to prevent the protective coating from coming off.  So here’s a look at some of Bdellium’s Studio Line!

I absolutely love the yellow handle on these babies.  It makes it super easy to see in my mess of brushes in my kit and at home.  I don’t know why but the color yellow always puts me in a good mood! :)  If yellow isn’t for you, Bdellium offers the Maestro series which I believe are the same brushes but in a black handle.

Studio #949 Pointed Foundation

I love using this brush to smooth out my foundation application in those hard to reach places like around the nose and mouth areas.  Sometimes I have a problem of looking kind of streaky in those areas because my usual foundation brush can’t blend those areas out well but this brush is perfect for it!  Since it is a smaller brush, it’s great for applying products around the eye as well.  There’s a nice weight to this brush and when I washed it, it held together very well with no shedding.  I’ve washed it more times since then and it’s still holding up well and hasn’t started to fray out.  It is made out of all synthetic fibers as well so this is good to use with cream or wet products since it won’t absorb any product at all.  For all of you full coverage foundation users, I’d really recommend this brush to you.  I used this with MAC’s Studio Sculpt Foundation, which is basically a big tube of concealer and it applied it flawlessly!  I was super impressed and picked up another one for my kit!

Studio #985 Duet Fiber Powder

This brush is a mix of natural and synthetic fibers, similar to those duo fiber brushes that have been super popular lately.  I use this brush to apply powder all over my face and has completely replaced my MAC 135 for this job.  It does an even better job than my MAC brush, picking up just enough product to set my foundation without making me look cakey at all.  However, this brush is pretty large–it’s the biggest brush in my whole collection so it’s a little difficult for me to travel with but I believe that Bdellium has a travel size of this brush.  When I first washed this brush it did bleed a little which is too be expected but it hasn’t shed on me at all which makes me very, very happy. :)

Studio #942 Slanted Contour

I was surprised by the size of this brush.  I was originally planning to use it to apply blush since I thought it would be similar in size to the MAC 168 brush but it is much, much smaller.  It’s actually perfect to use for contour (well duh, Gaby, it does say it’s a contour brush).  Anyway, this is another mixed fiber brush and I use it whenever I want that really contoured look.  It makes contouring easy since it provides great precision but I did have a hard time blending it out with this brush so I had to use another brush to finish the job.  It is a great brush though and it gives me those cheekbones that I have always wanted. 😛

Studio #960 Precision Blusher

I was also surprised when I got this brush.  I was expecting it to be fluffy, like all other standard blush brushes but this one is pretty flat.  However, it totally does an amazing job of applying highlighters and blush onto the ridge of your cheekbone line.  It picks up a good amount of product and applies it evenly.  When I apply blush with this brush, I start at the apples of my cheeks and sweep upwards toward the area between my ears and temples to get a nice healthy glow.  For highlighter, I gently tap this brush across the tops of my cheekbones to get a nice application. When I wash this brush it does tend to shed a little, but not enough to bother me.

Studio #957 Precision Kabuki

If I had to choose one brush to use for the rest of my life this would be it.  The Precision Kabuki really does it all.  I use this brush with an assortment of different products–I buff out every kind of foundation with this brush, I’ve seen people use this brush to set their foundation with powder and it can even be used to apply blush.  The strait edge of the brush also makes this ideal for contouring as well.  Since this brush is made from all synthetic fibers, it is good to use with cream products and can withstand the density of the product without sacrificing the quality of the brush.  For days where I don’t want to wear liquid foundation and I just want to apply some powder, this is the brush I use.  It picks up enough product to give me a good amount of coverage and really blends everything out to a nice finish.  Since this brush is so dense It does take a long to dry but that’s a really small issue.

See how dense this brush is?!?!!? Sorry, I just really had to show you guys what I’m talking about. :)

I definitely am going to buy more brushes from Bdellium.  They offer high quality brushes at a very low price and I can see myself using these not only on myself but on my clients as well.  They have a wide range of brushes that will suit everyone’s needs and for playing with them every day for the last month, they still look like new.  I hope you’ve all had a great Labor Day weekend!

Sailor Moon Series | Tuxedo Mask 2.0 / King Endymion

I promised a second Tuxedo Mask look so here it is!  While I was working on this look, I really wanted to focus on a dramatic eye because I did a red lip last time but half way through I thought “meh, screw the rules, I’ll just do both!”  So for this look, I did a dramatic cat eye with tons and tons of eyeliner and a wine colored lip in the red family.  You can’t really tell in the photo too well but I attempted an ombre lip and it was super pretty when I applied it but eventually wore off during the day–I guess I like rubbing my lips together too much because after an hour, the pretty gradient was gone and my lips were all the same shade hahaha :).  I also wanted to do a dramatic cat eye for Tuxedo Mask to mimic the mask he wears, and for a second, I was thinking about painting an actual mask on my face lol.  I also had an interesting conversation with some friends yesterday about Tuxedo Mask.  Do you guys remember that he didn’t even know he was Tuxedo Mask?! WEIRD. He’d transform and when he went back to being Darien he’d be like “What the heck just happened?” >____>

Okay but really though, here is the look.  I hope you enjoy!

Urban Decay | Ocho Loco

Oh it’s that time of the year again.  All of the holiday makeup sets are slowly coming out which means trouble for me.  They always sucker me in with the pretty packaging and amazing deals and…#%@*#! Haha but really, I do love holiday sets because you get a little bit of everything which makes it easier for me to figure out what I actually need or not.  So today we’ll start off with Urban Decay’s new Ocho Loco set.  This is a set of eight of their full-sized 24/7 Glide On Pencils.  This set retails for $59 which is a steal because buying each of these individually would cost $152! There are four new shades in this holiday set, and the colors are oh so pretty.  The shades that the pencils come in are Mushroom, Hustle, Psychedelic Sister, LSD, Rockstar, Perversion, Junkie, and Stash–the first four being their new shades.  It also comes with their grindhouse pencil sharpener which works with both their 24/7 glide on pencils and their chubbier makeup pencils as well.  So what do you think?  Will you be picking this up or are you going to pass on this?

Sailor Moon Series | Sailor Moon

So, school starts tomorrow. :( BUT I HAVE A NEW LOOK! So this is for Sailor Moon which means we’re finally finished with the Sailor Scouts!  I’ve got three more looks to post though: Tuxedo Mask 2/ King Endymion, Neo-Queen Serenity, and Wicked Lady.  This series should be finished up by the end of this week, if not early next week.  I really enjoyed doing this series and plan to start working on more.   If there’s any kind of series or looks you’d like to see please let me know and I’ll try to think up of something!  I like doing these because it makes me think outside of the box and keeps me from doing the same thing with my makeup over and over again.  So here’s Sailor Moon for you–I focused on her colors of gold, pink, and blue for this one.  Please enjoy. 😀

Sailor Moon Series | Sailor Mini Moon

I had a love hate relationship with Sailor Mini Moon/ Rini when I watched Sailor Moon while I was growing up.  She annoyed me to no end but I felt bad for her because she basically watched her mother sacrifice herself to save everyone.  Well, I guess that was a spoiler for anyone who hasn’t watched it…lol. Okay! So for this look I wanted to keep it super sweet and pink because that’s all I think about when I think about her.  I mean, come on, even her hair is pink! I added a little bit of gold underneath the eye to balance out the pink eyeshadow to keep my eyes from looking too irritated or swollen, which pink has a tendency to do.  I wanted to keep this a little bit more simple since it is Rini so yes, please enjoy. :)

Sailor Moon Series | Sailor Saturn

Sailor Saturn was weird.  If I remember right she’d have fainting spells and then her evil alter ego would come out and wreak havoc on the world.  But enough of that, I decided to go for a purple look for Sailor Saturn–lots and lots of purple, which was probably influenced by purple being my favorite color.  Edgy eyeliner has been an obsession of mine recently so I decided to do a pretty extreme double cat eye just for giggles.  Be warned, I think I used mostly Urban Decay for this look…I don’t know why.  Actually I do know why, those were the only palettes I had out this morning and I was too lazy to dig through my makeup.  So yes, please enjoy and I hope you all are enjoying your week.  School starts up again next week…and I don’t know how I feel about this. ;___;  :\  ?___? Lol no really, I guess I’m glad to get back to class but I don’t want to have to wake up early. POOOOOOOP.

MAC | Style Seeker Collection

Fall is almost here! Okay, so it certainly doesn’t feel like it, but in the makeup and fashion world, fall trends are starting to emerge everywhere which makes me super happy because fall and winter are my favorite seasons.  I love dressing up warm and everyone looks so nice in all their layers and heavy jackets.  Sososo to kick us off, MAC will be releasing their new fall collection next week on August 23rd called Style Seeker.  From looking at all the products in this collection, I feel like this collection will suit people with darker and more olive skin tones.  Everything is super warm toned so I’m pretty interested in seeing this collection in person when it comes out.  Is there anything that you have your eye on?

Style Seeker–

Fall color surfaces in tones influenced by the spirit and style of the global wanderer. She has a knack for juxtaposing vintage, ethnic flea markets, and avant-garde into stunning original looks. Camden market, marché aux puces, the slick road, moroccan bazaars– her eye wanders; her suitcase overflows. She brings it all home for a look as eclectic and fashionable as she is. From this world of wanderlust  MAC interprets a vivid color collection. Translucent buildable powder blushes add glow. Eye shadow duos for brilliant sultry effects punctuated with fluidlines. Classic mattene lipsticks is revived for dramatic dense color that last for hours. Lipglass get fresh flair in new shades and nail lacquers in jewel tones and metallics extend the opulence to the tips of the fingers.

Eye Shadow Duos
Culturalized Eye – soft creamy beige (s) / mid-tone neutral gold (l)
On The Hunt – bronzed red (f) / bronze violet (vp)
Marché aux Puces – chestnut brown (m) / mid-tone golden orange (vp)
Whims & Fancies – platinum silver (vp) / blackened plum (m)

I’ve never purchased the eye shadow duos from MAC but they look interesting and are probably perfect for travel.

Mattene Lipstick
Fun Finds – light nude pink
Delectable – orange beige (repromote)
Eden Rouge – bright blue red (repromote)
Fashion Nomad – bright red orange
Camden Chic – rich brick red

Lipglass
Eclectic Edge – mid-tone true orange
Ready to Roam – mid-tone true blue red
Restless – dark burnt bronze
C-Thru – peach beige with shimmer (permanent)

Looks like reds and warm oranges are going to be in this fall….:)

Fluidline
Dark Diversion – blackened plum (repromote)
Local Wares – mid-tone olive with multi-dimensional peralized pigments
Rich Ground – reddened cocoa with frost (permanent)
Blacktrack – solid flat black (permanent)

So two of these fluidlines are permanent so you don’t have to worry about getting them but I know Dark Diversion is amazing.  I got it last year when they released it and it’s beautiful.  I use it as eyeliner and a base sometimes and it really brings out dark purples.

Powder Blush
Worldly Wealth – shimmer peachy bronze
Supercontinental – bright cute coral
Hidden Treasure – rich burnt red

I’m super super supppperrrr interested in Hidden Treasure, we’ll see how it swatches when I go to vist next week!

Nail Lacquer
Gadabout Girl – blackened plum
Styleseeker – duochrome red frost
Mean & Green – purple with teal color changing pearlized pigments (permanent)

Okay so the nail polishes look amazing, but I know MAC and their nail polishes are subpar at best, especially for the price.  I’d probably skip on these.
