Pokemon Makeup Series | Moltres

Sorry for the delay you guys!  School finally caught up with me and has been keeping me occupied for the past couple of weeks.  Anyway next up is Moltres!  I absolutely love love love this look you guys.  I think it’s a fun smokey look, especially with the gold glitter liner I used.  You definitely don’t have to use the gold liner for this look but I think it gives it a super fun and interesting pop of color.  Please enjoy and I hope you had a great start of the week!

Pokemon Makeup Series | Officer Jenny

A couple days ago I was looking through pictures from Pokemon to come up with an idea for a new look and I stumbled upon Officer Jenny.  Honestly, I wasn’t planning on making a look for her but I saw her color scheme and totally fell in love.  Her outfit is shades of blue and teal with gold accents so I really wanted to incorporate that into an eye look.  I was thinking about pairing this look with a red lip since she always has lipstick on but I didn’t like how it looked so I opted for a more neutral lip color instead. :)

Pokemon Makeup Series | Charmander

I have a feeling this is going to be a monster of a makeup series!  I’ve been trying to decide what I was going to focus on for this series since Pokemon is just such a big subject and I still really haven’t figured out if I’m only going to do Pokemon inspired looks or if I should make looks up for some of the characters as well…it’ll probably be a little bit of both and whatever I’m inspired by so bear with me for a little bit, please :)  Anyway I decided to make a look inspired by Charmander because I’ve been playing Pokemon Red recently (THANK YOU KEVIN TRUONG YOU ARE AMAZING FOR FINDING YOUR GAME FOR ME).  I always pick Charmander as my starter Pokemon so I figured I’d start with this little guy.  I created this eye look using golds, oranges, and reds and spent a bit of time blending them all together to get a nice transition going on between all the colors.  I hope you enjoy and please please pleaseee let me know if there’s anyone in particular you’d like to see.

Urban Decay | Vice Palette

Dangit Urban Decay, just when I think I’m in the clear, they do this and come out with a new palette.  A new, super pretty, limited edition palette with 20 new colors in their new formulation.  Which means I’m totally lusting after it.  ;___;

Urban Decay launches the Vice Palette for fall—an insanely gorgeous new palette that’s ALL about eyeshadow. All twenty new shades (yes, twenty!) were created exclusively for the palette—you’ve never seen these colors before because they are BRAND-freaking new…and you can’t find them anywhere else. With a range of mattes, shimmers, satins, neutrals and brights, there’s something for everyone. Limited Edition.

From our makeup artist team to our makeup-obsessed staff, everybody’s flipping out over Junkie, a shimmery green; Black Market, a jet black-satin; Blitz, a breathtaking gold; and Chaos, a bright blue matte, a shade that Wende calls “…totally amazing. And there’s a velvety smoothness and depth of color that are never-before-seen qualities in a color-rich matte.”

It all comes housed in a sleek purple soft-touch case topped with a sparkling jeweled UD icon. The sophisticated case boasts a large mirror and a double-ended Good Karma Shadow and Crease Brush (a current customer favorite)! We even borrowed motion-control technology from the automotive industry–with the push of a button, the slow-opening lid dramatically unveils all 20 shades, seducing the eye with anticipation.

Every eyeshadow contains Urban Decay’s brand new Pigment Infusion System™, the proprietary blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich color, serious staying power, and blendability.

Fall 2012 | Beauty Trends

At the start of this semester, one of my friends, Allison, asked me to write a blog post for CSULB’s Daily 49er in regards to fall makeup trends.  I was sososo honored to be able to have the opportunity and you guys can view it here if you’d like!  I also decided to post it on my blog because I know not everyone goes to Long Beach and I wanted to be able to share this with you as well. :)  Are there any other trends that you are excited to see and try for yourself?  Let me know! And thanks again to the 49er for letting me be a guest writer on their blog. :)

Smoky Brown Eyes
Brown is definitely the new black this fall.  A smoky brown eye is the perfect look for day or night this fall and is flattering for all skin tones and eye colors.  What I love about using browns is that you can create a quick and simple look using one or two colors or a super elaborate eye look for when you want to feel super fabulous.

Red Lips
Red lips are back in again this fall!  Ranging form matte to glossy, bright to deep, all shades of red have been seen on the runway.  Since we’re on campus for a good portion of the day, I know that retouching up can be annoying so I suggest using a pigmented lip gloss/lipstick hybrid like the Revlon Lip Butters.  The wear on this product lasts for a few hours but it’s so easy to apply that you can touch up quickly between classes.  For those who want to splurge a little bit, I’d consider Make Up Forever’s new lip product, Aqua Rouge.  This is a lip stain/ lip gloss combo and the color really lasts all day.  All you have to touch up is the gloss when it starts to wear off.  I’ve had many women tell me that they don’t think they can pull off red lipstick, but the truth is that everyone can!  It’s all about finding the right shade for your skin tone.  Cooler skin tones should look for a blue-based red color while warmer tones should go for a more neutral or orange-based red tone.

Fresh face
Don’t put away your summer foundations just yet!  The “super natural but of course I still have makeup on” look is pushing past summer and into the fall so hold off on splurging on that new foundation for just a little while longer.   If you do have a heavier wearing foundation, I suggest mixing it with your moisturizer to get a lighter, dewy application that will keep you looking amazing through this semester.

Defined eyebrows
I am a firm believer that most people, if not all, need to fill in their eyebrows.  Eyebrows frame your face and can really change how you look.  Fuller eyebrows make a face look younger while more defined eyebrows can give you an image of maturity.  I’ll be honest, my eyebrows take up a good portion of the time it takes me to get ready I the morning.  First I outline, and then fill and then conceal and…well, you get the picture, right?  I wouldn’t do it if it weren’t necessary though.  Here’s a quick tip to determine the right color to fill your eyebrows in—if you have light hair, I would suggest going three shades darker than your hair color for your eyebrows.  If you have dark hair, then three shades lighter.  See, not too difficult right?  Another quick tip; less is more.  It’s always easier to add more product than it is to take away.  Defined eyebrows are in, but we’re not going for eyebrows that look like they’re tattooed.

Color Blocking
Color Blocking has been such a big trend in clothing for the past few seasons and now it’s made its way into makeup.  Color blocking nails and makeup are showing up everywhere and it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up any time soon.  This is a really fun way to play with colors that you never thought you’d be able to put together before.  The trick is to focus on just one part of your face instead of all.  For example, if you want to focus on the eyes, make sure your lips and cheeks are a little more subdued.  This is the time to play with those colors you never thought you’d ever wear!

And there you have it!! I know I know, I’ve already used these photos before but I thought these were good representations of each trend this coming season.  AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE FROM THE UPCOMING POKEMON MAKEUP SERIES!

Sailor Moon Series | Neo-Queen Serenity

Anndddd this series has come to an end!  :( It’s kind of bittersweet, really.  I had a great time working on these makeup looks and I hope you guys enjoyed them as well!  Neo-Queen Serenity is so beautiful and regal looking, I really wanted to create a polished look to go with that image.  I decided on a neutral cut-crease and was contemplating on doing a bold lip as well but at the last minute, I decided just to stick to lipgloss.  Neutral cut-creases are my favorite because it’s neutral but it still has that sort of edgy look to it.  Now that this series is over, I think I’m going to do a quick mini-series with Starcraft (lol I know) and then move onto Pokemon or maybe One Piece.  I’m not really sure yet!  Please if you have any suggestions let me know.  This has been such a fun way for me to really think outside of the box with makeup and do things I normally don’t do…I’ve been stuck in the wedding makeup black hole for so long but I love love love playing with bright and fun colors.  Happy Tuesday everyone!

*quick note about Midnight Cowboy–This eyeshadow has MAJOR MAJOR FALLOUT.  I’m speaking for the old formula, I believe that Urban Decay changed the formula for this eyeshadow as well but ohman, it seriously was like Tinkerbell decided to vomit all over my face.  You can’t really tell in the photos but IT WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE.  I even had some in my hair! HOW THE HECK DOES THAT HAPPEN?! Hahha but anyway, yes, if you ever decide that you want to use Midnight Cowboy…well, good luck. :)
