Christina & Aaron After Session – Downtown Fullerton, CA

So the day after Justin shot Christina and Aaron’s wedding, Justin shot their after session and guess who tagged along to help with the lighting? That’s right, me. :] Anyway, it was pretty cute since most of the time when Justin and I do a couple shoot, they never really know what location they want to go to but Christina and Aaron had their locations set.  But what was even cuter was that the places they wanted their pictures taken at were places that were significant to them! First we went to downtown Fullerton and took pictures at the Amtrak station which is how Christina and Aaron were able to see each other when she lived in San Diego.  Every weekend Christina would take the Amtrak up to Fullerton and Aaron would wait for her to arrive at the platform. Aaron lived only a couple blocks away from the station. Sometimes Aaron would take the train down to San Diego too of course. Then we stopped by Heroes Bar and Grill, which is where Christina made her move on Aaron, HAHA. :D But really, for those of you that know the story about me and Justin…well I have NOTHING on Christina! But anyway, after we finished shooting at downtown Fullerton, we went down to Seal Beach and took some super awesome pictures with a picture frame and Justin made it look like he was taking a picture of a picture!  I pretty much had a mind explosion when I saw the picture because I didn’t realize how crazy it would look.  Christina and Aaron are two pretty amazing people and I’m glad that Justin and I were able to shoot their after session, listen to their story, and eat msg filled Chinese food.

Christina and Aaron Zeuli Wedding Ceremony – Walnut, CA

Christina and Aaron called me one day inferring about my services, literally an hour later I was at their house sitting down writing out a contract for their big day and onwards. You see, Christina and Aaron aren’t your average run of the mill wedding day couple. They get TWO! The first wedding is with close family and friends was for Aaron to be welcomed to the Catholic community and was a beautiful ceremony at St. Lorenzo Ruiz Church in Walnut. The second which Aaron likes to call the “dog and pony” show (now Christina can scream at me too for calling it that! haha) is a wedding for all their friends and family, i believe over 240 guests attending at beautiful Malibu CA. I plan to attend that wedding too, you know as a guest! jk jk, but Christina and Aaron asked me to shoot their first wedding, the REAL one! Honored. Christina and Aaron also booked me for their day after session which was held at Downtown Fullerton where they spent most of their lives together and at the beach. More to come on that shoot next time. For now I hope you all enjoy Christina and Aarons Wedding Ceremony photos. Enjoy!

Share Your Favorite Blog! – Laguna Niguel, CA

When I first picked up my camera and had no idea how to shoot, I started looking at lot of people’s work, I enrolled in school, and I interned for a Hollywood movie photographer, Pete Tangen.  This guy was the real life Spiderman; he would take regular scenes and make them into dramatic movie posters.  You’ve seen some of his work like, Batman Begins, Superman and Spiderman, amongst other movies.  When I first started, I really wanted to do big name photography.  I wanted my work to be showcased in magazines and billboards across the United States but as I got more involved in learning and experiencing that industry, I realized that’s not what I wanted to do.

It was then that I found myself.  I knew I wanted to work with people that I can relate to, people on the same level as me, and people I can be myself with.  I started narrowing down my options and for the past year I have been looking at fewer and fewer types of photorgaphy.  I’ve come to the realization that most photographers start off liking everything and then eventually round into just one or two things.   I thought about this when my good friend, Matt Kruger, was telling me how he finally found what he wanted to do in his life: food photography.  One of the greatest things you can have in your life is the ability to know what you want to do.  Knowing I wanted to be a photographer was my first step.  Doing lifestyle and wedding photography was the second.

Today I look at fewer and fewer blogs as I know what my niche is.  I have a dedicated style, a solid passion for my niche, and an eagerness to keep getting better.  I constantly look at my favorite blogs and dissect the pictures.  It’s very important for you to not just look at a picture but to analyze how it was made and how it was created.

So for you photographers out there, whether you know your niche or not, please share with me some of your favorite blogs or photographer’s websites so we can all see the passion that you have for photography and the inspirations that drive you.

My favorite is Mr. Todd Laffler from New Jersey, who creates images with a high intellect for observational light and manipulated light along with high energy and interesting composition.  I think the guy is brilliant and I still can’t figure out how he does some of his pictures today.

On another note, last Sunday, Gaby and I visited my old friend, Nikki who set up a Father’s Day shoot for her boyfriend, Ryan, and his two daughters,  Kaylyn and Kassie.  The girls were really sweet and nice and they did everything I asked them to do, even when Kassie was scared to get on her dad’s shoulders, she did anyways.  Ryan was a very fun loving father from the getgo and did not need to be cued when to be so.  We finished up with some great clouds at Laguna Niguel, the beautiful beach city. Please enjoy!

Look at my favorite photographer…other than you. ;)

Why is he my favorite? Because he's doing my graduation photos one day with you. At disneyland. In my graduation gown. With Minnie ears. That is all.
