Lexationships Preview – JustinElement Studio

Hello readers! Guest bloggers today from Lexationships, Marc Abrigo, James Lontayao, and DJ Good Journey will be taking the helm today. They are a comedy team of energy, spirit, and passion and can be seen world wide EVERYWHERE. These three are the funniest 3… straight guys, I know. Hope you enjoy!

So, when we came in today for this shoot, our main objective was simple: don’t look like idiots (difficult, considering it’s our specialty). However, thanks to the creative vision and artistically-discerning eye of one Mr. Element (totally fake name, by the way), he managed to make us look… well… kinda cool. Now, just for the record, the preview image you’re seeing above was COMPLETELY COINCIDENTAL. The poses, the wardrobe, the somewhat awkward facial expressions — NOT PLANNED. Thankfully, Marc’s nearly-obsessive love for the Brothers Jonas proved quite the boon and was brought to Justin’s attention. As of now, we are absolutely loving the picture, and are currently trying to figure out how to kill those three and claim this pose as our own. Look forward to the rest of the shots, J-Element/Lex fans — we look like total tools in those, as well!

I was privileged to shoot another weekend wedding down in San Diego back in November. Sheila and Leo did their engagement shoot with me at Balboa Island a couple months prior and brought me down for the weekend for their beautiful wedding. The hotels and the reception were held at the NTC Promenade which use to serve as the home community for the families of the men and women at the nearby Naval Base. This place was awesome since everything looked so military but it was all turned commercial for the surrounding community. At first arrival, my team and I definitely thought we were entering a military base of operations. We started shooting in the morning at Sheila’s suite and met up with the guys and everyone else at the church. Everything, everything about this wedding was absolutely gorgeous, from the 22 person entourage to the sushi appetizers and the super hip photobooth. We had a blast capturing their moments and wouldn’t hesitate doing it all over again. Go Chargers!

So I just found out that THIS is their secret to SEXY BIG HAIR. lol

Guestbook and Album Design

I’ve been experimenting with guestbooks and designing albums for my clients and if there’s anything that I’ve learned its that simple is better. One of my photoshop teachers back when I was in school would always say KISS KISS KISS! Keep it simple stupid. When designing my albums I’ve always tried my best to stray away from over populating, 2-5 pictures per spread and let the image speak for itself. Designing guestbooks is probably the best place to really get your creative, yet simplistic, juices going, plug and play and crop in unfamiliar places and you’ll love the end result.
