Andrea + Peter | Todd Laffler One-on-One Mentoring Session | Westfield, NJ

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

So the end of our New York trip was capped off with a one on one session with my favorite photographer Todd Laffler. Todd has a style I love so much that I wanted to see the behind the scenes work and his thought process when shooting. I knew that by doing this I would be able to just come out with something to give my work a little edge, mixed with my own style. I tend to really follow the photographers I love and try to incorporate their styles along with my own to create something totally different. To me, Todd has such a great hold on composition and finding great light, that would help my entire shooting style. Meeting with Todd was definitely one of the best decisions I made. Here are some of the shots I took while shooting Andrea and Peter whose big day is this Saturday. I wish I could have been there in New York to help shoot their wedding, they were such a great couple to work with and had lots of patience while Todd was giving me the inside scoop on how he shoots. Thanks guys, hope you like the few shots.

Please enjoy.

And one shot of the great Todd Laffler in action. Thats Gaby in the background, I think some of his expertise may have rubbed off on her too through osmosis ;) haha Thanks Todd!

Val + Jarrod | Engaged | New York

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Well here it is. The Full Version! We spent about 7 days in New York and the first 2 days were the busiest. Day 1 we made stops at the Meat District, The Highline, Small cobblestone streets, little NYC Pizza shops, hot dog carts and philly cheese steak joints. That night we visited Time Square, something i’ve never seen at night before. We stayed downtown on Wall Street at the Holiday Inn and walked around to the NY Stock Exchange and ground zero. They say you know who the tourists are because they look up, well I was looking up the entire time! No shame here! Day 2 we visited the Grand Central station and Central Park then getting back on the subway and eventually walking through Brooklyn. It was a crazy 2 days of site seeing, shooting, and just running around, but it was tons of fun. Val also was a soldier out there sometimes in her heels and just a dress in that freezing wind. I think in the shade it was down to 34 degrees. And when we were shooting at the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, it was probably below freezing, especially since we were eating ice cream! hahaha. Thanks again for the fun trip, I hope you and everyone likes the photos! Make up and assisting: Gaby Manalo

Please Enjoy!

Westchester, New York

Friday, April 8th, 2011

The latter half of my New York trip was family based. Here’s a few shots of my nephew Rafa and my family over there. Thanks for taking care of us and all the hospitality. We had a really really great stay :)

The pictures of Rafa were at Cold Springs, New York, a very small town surrounded by Mountains and the Hudson River. I wouldn’t mind retiring in a place like this. Thanks to Rafa who was such a great model, I could see this guy in some Gap kids ads haha

Andrea + Peter . Todd Laffler . Westfield, New Jersey . Preview

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Today was another amazing day really filled with new things. I drove into Manhattan for the first time and battled it out with New York traffic pretty successfully might I add. I visited and shopped at B&H the largest photography store ever, dropped Gaby off Inglot make-up, one of only 3 in the USA, and did my mentoring session with Todd Laffler shooting the very beautiful Andrea and very charming Peter. Lets just say I can see the entire world differently now both behind and not behind a lens. Also Todd gave me some awesome pointers on running my business fluidly and successfully. Hopefully my photos show a little bit more umph now that I had some help from Todd whilst creating my own very own unique style of images. All in all it was a very successful day of firsts all around.

PV and Rose Preview for Magazines!

Friday, January 14th, 2011

So normally i’d be posting a couple one to five pictures of the wedding I just did as a preview, but Rose contacted me recently to send her some 40 photos to be featured on two heavily distributed international magazines. Thus fighting against the fatigue and the horrible jetlag, I picked out a few of my favorite pictures and immediately got to working. I’ll have to revisit the pre Thailand work I have waiting for me in the near future. Good for you guys though since I know tons of you are waiting to see some of my work from the Thailand wedding – not to mention our engagement session which i still have yet to blog! (Since they’re all done and editted, i’ll make sure to post them up this week)

So here are my favorite pictures from the Rose and PV’s wedding in Thailand, when I finish all the photos, i’ll make sure to post the entire gallery and more of my favorites on here. I’ll also make sure to find a copy of those magazines when they publish!

Please enjoy!

I’m HOME! Watch Rose and PV’s Thailand Wedding Trailer!

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

I just got back home! It was an amazing adventure and a blessed opportunity to shoot Rose and PV’s wedding. I’m so backed up on sleep and suffering some major jetlag, so while i continue to back up my work, work on my own photography previews for this blog, and get ready for TOMORROWS 1/11/11 wedding for Jinae and Ramil – I’ll go ahead and let you all see the video teaser. Both I and the Videographer – Shane and A from Spell Studios created a same day edit of our work, Shane’s team created this amazing video in just the few hours they had after the ceremony. I’m thoroughly amazed and would recommend them to everyone, only they’re based in Thailand, but still I would definitely suggest flying his team out. I on the other hand worked solo, so I had a little less material to work with, but I did what i could and created something very beautiful also – more to see in a couple days. But for now. Here is the amazing work by Spell Studio –

I hope this gives you a little better taste of what I was privileged to work with, the beauty of it all, and the amazing couple I stayed with these last 2 weeks. Once again, Congratulations Rose and PV! I had an amazing time!

Thailand . Its Crunch Time!!!

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Its gettingggg crazyy over here! Rose and PV’s wedding is coming up in 2 days and everyone’s starting to fly in. Family and friends are piling in at Bangkok Intl Airport and Rose and PV were happy enough to accommodate the transportation for everyone… how you might ask? Well as one of Rose’s friends described, via SUPED UP JEEPNEY Party Bus! hahahaha courtesy of one of Rose’s bridesmaids, Clarisse Chiongbian – this thing is one of those busses that take tourists from one area of a country to another, But we used it in another convenient way to pick up all the guests flying into the airport today!

If you didn’t notice yet, Rose and PV are going all out for their big day, Rose’s dress is designed by Vera Wang, Shoes by Jimmy Choo, River Boat cruise to and from locations, Dinner Cruise Rehearsal Dinner, transportation taken care of for everyone from the airports and to the wedding, Reception at the Peninsula Hotel,  and some of the most incredible names of the Filipino and Thai world’s attending. Again, you’ll have to see the photos to really understand what and who i’m talking about. But till then, why not enjoy some teasers?! Here’s some more pictures from the Ruins of Ayutthaya -

quick history recap on this place, back in the 1400′s or so, Burma and Thailand were at war and the Thai people had to evacuate their capital of Ayutthaya. They moved everything to the new capital we know now, Bangkok. The ruins of Ayutthaya are the left over remnants of a remembered past, a real landmark to the Thai culture.

Tomorrow is the Rehearsal Dinner Cruise. Big day big day big day! Can you feel the excitement?!

Greetings From Thailand

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Hey guys! I finally got reliable Internet, so as I’ve promised, i’m updating you. I promise my future Thailand posts will be more in depth but I wanted to at least get out one or two pictures for you guys. I arrived in Bangkok Thailand 2 days ago and stayed at the Bangkoknoi hotel, I did a little bit of site seeing and a did a pre engagement session with my lovely couple Panlavee (PB and Rose). I had some really good Thai food, checked out the golden palace, the emerald buddah, and checked into a spa and massage at the end of the day. Today was a little bit more of the site seeing and I moved into PV and Roses condo and set up camp here.

Tommorrow were going to shoot the prenup (engagement) shoot in the ruins of the old Thailand capital. I’m excited to shoot there so stay tuned for some crazy stuff. Here’s a taste of whats been happening.

p.s – I hate mosquitos!
