Soratha + Patrick | Engaged | Jane Addams Elementary – Long Beach Poly High School – El Dorado Park

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

Soratha and Patrick are planning their wedding in only 3 months!! and this isn’t going to be your typical wedding – Soratha and Patrick are having four different ceremonies, over 400 guests, and are visiting around 6 locations just on the day of their wedding. The itinerary and festivities are going to be incredible too, dragon dancers, live bands, the works. I wasn’t surprised when Patrick told me all his ideas for this engagement session either. I knew I would have some great moments to shoot.

To start this story off right though, I need to fill you in on their backstory. Soratha and Patrick have been together for lets just say forever. They’ve been planning for their wedding for a few months now, but never had actually proposed. So after we met and hashed out details for their “engagement session” they actually weren’t engaged officially yet, Patrick contacted me regarding his plan to propose to Soratha during the engagement session. He shared with me the story of how they met in Kindergarten at Jane Addams Elementary and how Soratha threw sand in his hair in the sandbox outside of the class. And yes, they met when they were five! Okay so now back to the present – unfortunately the sandbox was demolished and a regular playground was built in the kindergarten section of Jane Addams. Patrick determined, built a miniature sandbox out of styrofoam peanuts and wooden 4x4s. He brought some old chests, tricycles and an easel to paint on to really give the scene some character. After a few shots, Patrick went ahead and showed Soratha what he painted her on the easel. He had an entire story played out about Soratha and himself, finally culminating with an allusion to Shel Silverstein’s the Missing Piece, a childrens book about finding your missing piece. At the very end, Patrick turns the page to a Will You Marry Me page, and finally gets down on one knee….

That was just the beginning, we headed over to El Dorado Park, created some vintage backdrops, a giant red balloon, and naturesque scenes. Finally we stopped by our alma mater, Long Beach Poly where we all actually went to high school, dragged in a pink love seat and played with the idea of love in the randomest places. It seems like alot but we were able to crunch all of this under a few hours and still get some great shots. OK enough of the talking. lets see the work! Thanks Soratha and Patrick for being great models, and ofcourse to my lovely girlfriend Gaby for assisting.

Soratha + Patrick | Proposal – Engaged | Teasers

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

This was actually a two in one. Patrick proposed to Soratha at this shoot with a bunch of creativity and a little photography. We timed it just right and when Soratha thought it was just a photoshoot with props, Patrick pulled out the big guns. I already have this story all written and ready for you guys, but your going to have to wait for all the photos to be done before I post it. Till then, enjoy the teasers!

Mae + Christian | Proposal Feature

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

Hey Guys! I have to be at a wedding in a few hours but one my couples just sent me an email I knew I had to post and share before I left. I met Mae in middle school a long long long time ago and Christian in high school. When I first met mae I was about 4’09, tons shorter than her and still a little kid. Her entire group of friends use to call me their son even though I was practically the same age. Hence my child hood was probably totally upside down considering I was about 12 inches shorter than what I should have been. AND I seriously kid you not, this is no overreaction, if you don’t believe me I’ll have to share some very old pictures of me! Anyway over the years I grew about 12 more inches and stayed in contact with Mae and her friends and with the awesome power of facebook, she was able to contact me to book me for her wedding in Hawaii! Now more info about that later this week. We got to catch up but I totally missed on hearing about how the proposal went, and luckily I was able to read on her site, the story. And keeping in the theme of proposals, here’s another very very romantic and original way to propose :) Enjoy!

Charles + Val | Proposal | CSULB PAC Modern Surprise Performance Proposal

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Last night was Charle’s and Val’s 7th anniversary, I met them actually 7 years ago also at CSULB and I was really excited when Philup, one of the coordinators, asked me to come shoot it. Val was totally surprised and caught off guard when the music started playing and everyone started dancing and Charle’s delivered the sexiest speech I’ve heard. Check out the video! Creds to Gaby for shooting it :)

I’ve probably watched this video 20 times by now, but i’m so impressed by how amazing it is. Charles really pulled all the strings to make this happen, a secret group of over 200 people with dancers from generations of PAC Modern and friends and family, a live stream broadcasting to those not in attendance including ELLEN (i don’t know if she really watched but she was tweeted!), a team of videographers and photographers so Charles can put together an official video, and need I even say – GLOW STICKS!

The rest of the photos can be found here. Enjoy!

Rovy + Rosanne | Proposal | Yojie Restaurant

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

I met Rosanne a few years ago at CSULB through some friends at the CBA and I met Rovy soon afterwards when his brother told me he was thinking about joining my fraternity. Since then I’ve seen these two literally grow and become two of the most respected and inspired leaders in their communities and make some of greatest friends a person can ever have. Last week when Rovy called me to tell me his plans and asked me to shoot his proposal, I couldn’t be happier for him. Rovy gathered his closest friends at the Yojie Shabu Shabu Restaurant for his birthday late Saturday night and set his plan into motion. Little did Rosanne know it was really all for her. After hours, Rovy was able to close the restaurant, move tables, and play a birthday video that revealed his true intentions. I won’t be able to do it justice by just writing about it, so here’s where pictures literally do mean a thousand words. I wish you two a wonderful time planning, I can honestly say this is the best time in your life, enjoy the planning and all the wishful blessings. Rovy + Rosanne – Congratulations!

You can see the entire gallery of the proposal here.

And here’s a video of it actually going down :) Courtesy of Gaby’s awesome vidoegraphy skills.
